Final

For this assignment, I used the gradient tool multiple times for the bomb, background, string, and the sparks. Also, I used the eclipse tool to make the shape of the circles and bomb. Then, I used the transparency tool for the lighting of the bomb. After that, I used the shape cutter tool to make the little circle border and I used the pencil to make the path for the text I used. I also used the pathfinder tool to make the letters have the same color as the background which was the hardest part of the assignment.

Panda Pillows Logo and Pattern

My product is called Panda Pillows and it's basically marshmallows which explains the pillow with the panda face on it. When ever I look at Pandas, they remind me of fat black and white marshmallows (sorry pandas) which are really cute. The marshmallow on the logo is what I want the marshmallows to look like when I sell them.  The pattern is a basic black and white polka dot pattern that will help me put other things on top of like the logo and additional features. I was afraid to use black because I didn't think everything would show up as well.

Personal Logo Design

This assignment was to create a logo and name for your own graphic design company. I chose the name "Pencil Paige Designs" because I mostly draw with a pencil-rarely pin or marker- and it's a play on words too. I chose the font that I did because it describes me and I like bubble letters and the color blue. The logo is a pencil drawing me so that represents the "Pencil" and "Paige". I enjoyed this assignment because I was able to put down what I wanted to do and let my creativeness flow. I don't think I would change anything if I could.

Mitchell_Farmers Logo Re-Design

This assignment was where I got to create a new logo for Farmers Insurance. First, I did some research on the company and then I filled out a questionare to get some ideas on logos for them. Then, I made many sketches of ideas that I had for the new logo. The one above is my favorite and I created it because when I did the research on Farmers, they put an image into my mind of a family. So I made a family together with a "F" in the middle.

This logo was my second favorite because like I said earlier I imaged a family and this one is hugging together. I also found while I was researching was that, they try to make you feel as safe as possible so that you don't have to worry about anything. Thus, the family is happy and they're hugging.

Mitchell_Splat

The splat assignment was really cool because I got to put my name in 3D and put paint splatters on it. You had to make each letter into a 3D shape and choose the color for the inside and outside. After that, you went to map art and overlapped the paint splatter with the letter and that got the design on the letters. Next, you put the splatters behind your name to make it look cool. I had a lot of fun with this assignment and didn't really have any difficulties with it.

Mitchell_Personal Expressions

The personal expressions assignment  was really fun because I got to design something my own way. I used a picture of me and did a tracing of it and then, I deleted all the unnecessary background. Next, I used a blue gradient as a background and put fluffy clouds on there. Therefore, I made path lines and traced around the clouds and put adjectives about myself on them. Plus, I made the main ones one font, and the others another font and then I alternated between them. I put some words to make bird shapes in the picture an extra. I liked how it turned out and the only thing that I would've changed was the picture that I took.

Mitchell_Snowboarder

The snowboarder assignment was a little challenging. One reason is because I had to change the colors on the person and make the swirls have different patterns that were NOT there. Also, when I had to put the symbols on there, I was difficult sizing each and everyone that I put to make it look good. the only part I thought was easy was when you took away and deleted the extra background on the picture of the snowboarder. I do like the colors of this assignment because they're my favorite colors. I think if I had more time, I would have shaped the swirls differently.

Mitchell_Lily Pad

The lily pad assignment was very long and tiring. I had to use the pen tool many times to create the petals and that took awhile since you had to very carefully make sure that they were the right angles and size. Then, you had to blend the different colors on the petals and lily pads. After that, you had to put different colors in different spots on the already mixed and gradient water. Finally, you put "ripples" with different opaqueness on the lily pads with the different ovals using the ellipse tool. Also, I added some ovals in the water using the ellipse tool again while changing the opaqueness. I liked how the final outcome turned out, it's very pretty. The only thing that I would have changed is the size of the flowers. They look too big on the lily pads. I liked using the gradient tool for this because it makes the flowers and water look cool and realistic.

The steps to create a Gradient Mesh is to first take the rectangle tool & make a rectangle and go to object and create gradient mesh. Also, you use the direct selection tool to click the anchor points.

Mitchell_Basketball Player

This assignment was really fun because I got to create a cute basketball player out of different shapes on Adobe Illustrator. I used the ellipse tool many times to create the eyes, head, arms, fingers, feet, and basketball. Sometimes I would have to use the shape builder tool to cut and make some things that I needed that I wouldn't be able to get normally like the smile and the lines on the basketball. Also, at certain times I had to use the  rectangle tool to get the legs, shorts, and neck. The only time were I had a really hard time, was getting the hair right. I mean, making sure all those curls look and fit right was difficult. I'm really happy on how this turned out because it does look sort of cute. If I had to change something, it would probably be the arms. They look a little off to me.

Mitchell_Personal Sign Project

I chose this sign because I thought it was cute for one and also I love popcorn and movies! The colors make you feel like you're at a theater. Also, this project was fun because I got to try to see if I could create a copy of this that looks alike. I know that some parts don't look correct but, I did try my best! That's also what made this assignment difficult. While I was working on this, some parts didn't want to be the size that I wanted it to be because the computer was giving me a hard time (or maybe it was just me). Also, I couldn't find the font for HOME THEATER and that made look more off than it needed it to be.

Mitchell_Pen Tool Sign

Making the Las Vegas sign was a little tricky. Trying to make sure that everything is in the right place can be difficult. Also, sometimes when you try to put shapes and letters where you want them to go, they won't go there. I did have a little fun with this sign by coloring and picking different fonts but other than that, it was kind of hard.

Pen Practice

This practice was a little difficult since working with the pen tool for the first time is not the easiest thing in the world. It was fun as a challenge thought. I chose the blue color to make the shapes pop out.

Mitchell_Typography Test

I chose this quote because it is very meaningful to me in everyday life. Sometimes I feel like I have to be fearless to have courage but I don't and when I read this quote, it makes me feel better and reminds me of that. I picked the colors that I did because I wanted it to have a loud image or feel that will get your attention and makes you listen to it. I didn't have a much harder time with this one since I have done a quote like this before but it still is hard to put things where you want them and get a image in your head of what you want.

Bellwork_September 27

With my quote I tried to put certain colors like red, camo green, and orange to make it seem like it announcing something important that you need to know right now.

Glyph Monster

I chose this little creature because I thought it was really cute and could create a happy or relaxed mood to the viewer. Also, I chose a blue background so that I could accomplish this. The yellow and pink are for creating a bright mood and to help the other colored parts of the creature pop out. I had a lot of fun with this project and then again, it was very stressful. One reason for it being stressful is, that you had to position and size everything correctly and it took a while for that to happen. Also, you had to go back and color every single little thing! I think I struggled with making it look as close as the real picture as I could. On the other hand, it was fun because of the challenge and what you could make with all the different glyphs.  I think the whole thing came out to be okay, but not super amazing. Which I can understand, since I'm just starting to get use to this.

Ethics are a set of moral principles that has a effect on a group or individual. It's kind of the same thing with computers but it effects the computer or the use of the computer. It can maybe show the personality of someone/ group in designing something.

Historical Poster

This poster is very detailed but it's also direct too. It's uses mainly three colors (red, white, and blue) and some others on the side. It's a patriotic poster for the U.S. that wants men (and maybe some women) to join the U.S. Army. When I look at this poster, it makes me think of my country and makes me feel patriotic. You go Uncle Sam! :)

Picture

When I look at the picture, I see a sun or a star. I just feel really warm and it reminds me of when I'm outside working or in walking class. It's also really bright to look at too. I kind of have to squint a little when I look at it.
I think pictures can affect your mood somewhat to be honest. If you're looking at a picture of someone running a marathon, either you're someone like me who is going to feel bad for that person or you're someone who feels like running or you can feel the wind (or something like that...). Also, if I'm looking at a picture of hot chocolate, I'm going to feel warm and fuzzy inside (not to mention wanting some hot chocolate).

An Awesome Week

This week has been very fun, but tiring. Two fun things that have happened this week are first, experiencing high school (because I'm a freshie!) and second, learning more about Graphic Design and Illustration class.
Experiencing high school has been really fun so far! I enjoy getting to know new people and teachers. Also, it's fun to have a lunch with your friends so you can socialize.
Learning about Graphic Design and Illustration class has been fun too! It's cool knowing about all kinds of stuff you're going to use on the computer.
I think what I'm most looking forward to this year is being a cool graphic designer or at least knowing how to do it. Also, being successful in all my classes, especially Spanish.
Being a cool graphic designer will help me excel in what I'm trying to do in life. It will also be cool to show some of my skills to my friends whenever they want me to draw or make something for them. Not to mention  making my own logo or other things when I become an artist or something like that.
Finally, being successful in Spanish class would be a miracle. I totally stink at Spanish and it would be awesome if I was to be really good at it by the end of the year. I'm going to study hard this year so I can accomplish that. I hope I do well in all my classes and I hope this is going to be a great year! :)

HELLO! :D

Hello everyone! My name is Paige, I'm a freshman at CSHS. My favorite color is BLUE, I can play the clarinet pretty good, and my favorite place to shop is Barnes and Noble. Some of my main hobbies are: drawing and reading. I love to draw and read Manga ( Just in case you don't know, it's Japanese comics) and other things. For books, I like to read fantasy, fiction, Manga, comics, a tiny bit of romance, comedy, and mystery. I try to draw and read whenever I can. Also, I have one little sister and a dachshund named, Rocky (He's so cute!). My favorite subject is English because I like to read, of course. I also like World History because I think learning about mythology and other countries' history is really cool. Next, I'm more of a introvert kind of person except on the Internet (Hehe :)) I don't know why, I just am. If you were in a class with me, I would probably be silent the whole time. I don't play any sports at all but I think watching the Olympics is fun! I also LOVE to play video games! I mostly play stuff on the Wii or the 3DS but, I do play Minecraft and it's really awesome! I would like to play other games in the future like Skyrim or one of the Portal games. They seem pretty awesome. Finally, I would like to be a artist or do something with animation or even help design video games when I get older.
